Things to Do with a 7-Year-Old
Seven is when day trips become real adventures. Longer drives are tolerated, more ambitious activities work, and the kid will tell you it was a great day, with reasons.
Seven is when day trips become trips. The morning car ride is fine. The hike with a destination is great. The lunch at the place down the road from the trailhead is part of the story. The plan can be ambitious without compromising.
This is also when you can start handing the kid a small role. They can read the trail map, choose the dessert, say which exhibit to see next. The day becomes collaborative, which the kid notices.
